What some of our graduates have to say
Jessi Gupta, '02 Sociology-Criminology Concentration
I originally wanted to get a degree in law. I was encouraged to major in something other than pre-law to broaden my horizons, so I elected to major in sociology with a criminology concentration. It is the best choice I could have made and I fell in love with the subject. Professors inspired me to think outside the box and to believe in my own abilities. I'm now a federal employee for FinCEN, an agency focused in providing assistance to law enforcement agencies in tracking all forms of financial crime, such as money laundering and terrorism.
Michael O'Donnell, '84 Sociology
As an owner of a company that provides nationwide communicatino access services, I am thankful for choosing sociology as one of my majors. Since I've been working, I've realized that every job I've had required the knowledge and ability to deal with diverse people everyday. Through the study of sociology, I've realized that understanding a customer's background - whether it is cultural, socioecononomic, or educational - is key in understanding their true needs as well as instrumental in my ability to ensure customer satisfaction.
Arthur Everette, '07 Sociology
Arthur was featured in the Daily Digest showcasing his new job in the Office of Assessment at Gallaudet. Arthur is also the father of two children under two years of age.
